Medium: Acrylic on watercolor paper, mounted to wood panel
Size 5” X 7”
While staying at a hotel in Calgary, Alberta, I was suddenly struck by vivid visions of my palm tree works hanging in grand hotel lobbies, gyms, living rooms—spaces where art meets everyday life. The idea lit a fire in me. On the flight home, I felt an overwhelming hunger to create. I landed in San Diego, drove straight to Blick Art Supply, and headed home to Orange County. Before my suitcases were even unpacked, I had painted these three lavender-colored palm trees. The compositions and shapes flowed out of me effortlessly—as if they were waiting to become physical, urging me to bring them to life.
